The mutual insurance company changes its name to Société mutuelle d’assurance des chambres syndicales du Bâtiment et des Travaux Publics (Mutual Insurance Company of the Building and Public Works Trade Unions) to focus on third-party liability insurance for masonry companies.

The first ten-year insurance contract by subscription is created by the Mutuelle, with coverage extended to civil liability after completion of the work.

SGAM btp, a mutual insurance group for the construction and public works sector, is created by SMABTP, l’Auxiliaire and CAM btp. They are joined in 2010 by l’Auxiliaire Vie and SMAvie.

Acquisition of Imperio Assurance, a French subsidiary specializing in personal insurance, and Victoria International, a Portuguese insurer.

Taking advantage of opportunities in markets related to construction and public works, the group adopts the name Groupe SMA.

GALIAN and SMABTP create a joint venture, called GALIAN-SMABTP, combining SMABTP's activities dedicated to real estate professionals with those of GALIAN.

SMABTP acquires CGI BÂTIMENT, which specializes in financial guarantees for single-family home builders, real estate developers, and land developers.
